Dj Davi The Doctor
(Alain Patrick, Jornalista).
Release (Inglês)
"Davi 'Hardcore' Rodrigues, A.K.A. 'The Doctor' has a holistic musical Soul. He was born in the late seventies severly influenced by Funk, Soul and R&B, soundtracks for any party that would take place on his neighbourhood at the south side of São Paulo.
Just before being a teen, he found himself lost in the piles of his brothers' vinyls, learning about music in general, from the soulful to the funkiest side. It was the fusion between these african-american music and the rise of the more electronic bands that changed his life for ever – first through the tunes of Paliament-Funkadelic and ZAPP, and second through Kraftwerk's technopop anthems.
It was just a question of time to fall in Love with explosion of House Music, Hip Hop and Techno, as well as the emerging club culture of the east side of his town – the one of Overnight, Sound Factory (Penha and Pinheiros), Contramão, and finally Toco.
Always eager to learn, Davi 'The Doctor' didn't miss the chance to listen regularly the radio sessions such as Nova Dance with the pioneer Renato Lopes and Camilo Rocha, the Sound Factory one with Marky and Julião, and the DMC one with Julinho Mazzei.
All of this standed one step before his visits to the hottest underground clubs on the beginning of the nineties – mostly Sound Factory Penha and Toco where the historical resident DJ Marquinho 'Marky Mark' would rock the dancefloors – with long and eclectic repertories from Adeva to Krome & Time, playing almost every different underground music with amazing coherence.
The combination of all these factors added to his vinyl addiction granted him a very unique musical background from the seventies up to date, as well as a respectable collection of singles and EPs and a bolder, wilder and much more open minded perspective than the average DJs of his age.
His repertories, a standard of an eclectic and bold music experience are both challenging and fascinating. Don't miss the chance to hear them." (Alain Patrick, journalist).
